Kalaija Mallery is an artist, curator, and creative producer who makes projects that explore social space, leadership, intimacy and The Great Unknown.


Her recent performance and installation-based artworks utilize sculpture as a catalyst for devotional practice, sometimes bringing humor or lightheartedness to get to a deeper point. Kalaija is invested in group dynamics and eusociality, which is the belief that human cooperation is responsible for building (and rebuilding) society. Her research feeds into both her artistic and institutional practice, and is centered around a commitment to creative expression as a liberating vessel for individuals and collectives.


Kalaija works as Artistic Director at The Luminary and currently resides in St. Louis, MO.
